\u00c7anakkale 57th Infantry Regiment Martyrdom and Monument designed by Architect Nejat Din\u00e7el; It was built by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on December 12, 1992, at the southern end of K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7bay\u0131r, on the side of the Kabatepe-Conkbay\u0131r\u0131 road. During the war, foreign soldiers called this place “Chess Board”. This newly built martyrdom is symbolic. The real martyrdom is located at the southern end of Bomba Ridge, in the \u00c7ataldere Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n

The 57th Regiment of the 19th Division, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel H\u00fcseyin Avni Bey, was the first Turkish force to meet and repel the Anzac soldiers advancing on the Ar\u0131burnu Front on the first day of the foreign forces’ landing. For the first time on this front, the leadership and courage qualities of the 19th Division Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Mustafa Kemal, emerged. The 57th Regiment Martyrdom consists of a fountain, an open prayer area, a main cemetery and a monument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main materials used in the martyrdom are; Kevser stone is generally used in Seljuk and Ottoman caravanserais. Entrance of the Martyrdom; It is an opening on the eastern wall, on the side of the Kabatepe-Conkbay\u0131r\u0131 road. Right next to the entrance, he is depicted holding his grandson’s hand; There is a bronze statue of H\u00fcseyin Ka\u00e7maz, who died on September 10, 1994, at the age of 108, while he was Turkey’s oldest veteran.<\/p>\n\n\n

Directly opposite the entrance, on the eastern wall of the martyrs’ cemetery, there is a relief depicting the counter-attack of the 57th Regiment on April 25, 1915. The relief covers an area of approximately 45 m\u00b2. The fountain and open prayer area are located on the south side of the cemetery. The main cemetery section of the martyrs’ cemetery has an arched entrance, and the pedestrian path starting from this entrance ends at the northern wall.
